  • Overview

    The Senior Accountant II will analyze complex financial information and prepare specialized or complex financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, profits and losses, tax liabilities or other financial activities within the organization. They will also ensure all business transactions have been properly accounted and are accurately and completely reflected on the company's books. Prepare complex and specialized account reconciliations/analysis, financial reports and variance analysis. Provide information for audit requests. Analyze and identify potential opportunities for process efficiencies and technology advances. With negligible guidance, perform special, complex projects working with other departments as necessary. Autonomously initiate and solve a diverse range of complex problems and tasks using innovative solutions. Assist in developing accounting policies and practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare and review complex reconciliations
    • Monitor adherence to Accounting policies and procedures, regulations, internal controls and GAAP
    • Prepare monthly and specialized or complex financial reports
    • Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for monthly close and quarterly reporting
    • Prepare for and assists with financial and internal audit requests
    • Communicate with various departments to establish and build necessary schedules for monthly financial analysis
    • Gather information and prepare reports for management
    • Reconcile or responsible for the oversight of reconciling general ledger accounts
    • Conduct research to develop innovative solutions to existing or potential problems
    • Perform complex, special projects with minimal guidance
    • Help develop accounting policies and procedures
    • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
    • Communicate timely and appropriate details to management
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 6+ years accounting experience required
    • Oil and gas industry experience preferred
    • Enertia experience preferred
    • SQL reporting experience preferred
    • Spotfire reporting experience preferred
    • CPA and Public accounting or corporate reporting experience is a plus
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
    • Highly advanced knowledge of professional accounting principles to classify accounting transactions, maintain and reconcile accounts, close accounts, and prepare reports and statements
    • Ability to understand and provide the appropriate level of insight up to management
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously & meet pressing deadlines to successfully complete monthly/quarterly activities
    • Leadership skills to effectively lead a group effectively and productively
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate financial information, address complex issues and prepare reports
    • Attention to detail to ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliations
    • High personal credibility and ethical standards to ensure reporting follows internal controls and GAAP
    • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills to guide other Accountants across departments
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel to gather information
    • Expert computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and database reporting
