  • Overview

    Develops, maintains, and communicates effective environmental, safety, and/or loss control programs for the organization, including some of all of the following: implementation of pollution prevention/abatement programs, conduct environmental/safety audits, pipeline and facility inspections, testing of air, water and/or soil samples, investigation, reporting and follow-up on accidents/incidents, development of emergency response plans, address potential landowner issues/concerns, preparation of required reports, application for required permits, and maintenance of compliance and safety records. May develop and conduct training and/or awareness programs to operational personnel, contract personnel, and local community constituents. Work within incident command system. Basic knowledge of environmental/safety theories and concepts or at least a solid working understanding of the operating procedures and practices related to a specific area of operations within the company. Performs assigned tasks using established procedures and working under immediate supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    • Work collaboratively to facilitate knowledge sharing and communication related to regulatory issues, processes, systems and tools required for ensuring compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations
    • Provide quality and focused support on complex regulatory issues through regulation review and interpretation
    • Conduct safety training/coaching
    • Participate in the development of processes, systems and tools required to manage environmental compliance obligations related to air and be a skilled user of the systems as part of the team effort to manage the environmental compliance obligations
    • Support processes to ensure that environmental risks associated with new projects are understood and mitigated and provide routine status updates to stakeholders
    • Conduct training and/or awareness programs for employees, officers, directors and contractors
    • Support the daily environmental permitting and compliance work of the region
    • Stay current with local and state environmental permitting and compliance obligations
    • Develop and maintain required source data, such as equipment sources for GHG reporting
    • Interact with appropriate regulatory agencies including OSHA, OCC, DEQ
    • Champions company values, and sets tone of operating excellence
    • Position requires 50% field work
    • Rotating weekend on-call responsibilities
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental or Engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
    • Minimum of 2 years of environmental experience focusing on air compliance in the oil & gas industry is preferred
    • Project management skills
    • Understanding of OSHA regulations
    • Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (primarily excel). Analytical and problem-solving skills, addressing issues & preparing reports.
    • Understands business implications of EH&S issues
    • Planning, prioritization of work, initiative and organizational skills and ability to work unsupervised
    • High personal credibility and ethical standards to ensure reporting follows internal controls/regulations and professional standards
    • Interpersonal and teamwork skills to work in a team environment and across departments.
    • Communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel to gather necessary information
